This one is a really honest old R65, that although cosmetically below average, is mechanically spot on.
From its last owner of 32 years would you believe, the bike has a history file that is simply bursting with maintenance invoices that clearly show that this has been a cherished machine. Over and above the usual service invoices, the bike has had brake overhauls, rebuilt carbs, timing chain kit, new valves and stainless pushrod tubes, clutch, headstock and wheel bearings, etc, etc. File contains 30 or 40 years of old MOTs, tax discs (remember them!) and invoices. Obviously HPI clear of accidents, etc, and Historic status, so MOT exempt, and free road tax.
Spec on the bike is pretty good too, with a lovely, full, stainless exhaust system, twin discs, and of course that full genuine RS fairing kit.
The bike has been in regular use over the years, so unlike the many “barn finds” that are advertised, she’s off the button, hot or cold, and ready to go. Please don’t confuse this one with the many “project” bikes out there.
Paintwork is clearly poor, with a tank bag appearing to have rubbed through the paint on the top of the tank. Having said that, both the tank and seat base are totally solid, both being common areas of issue on Airheads.
I’ve just got loads on at the moment, and with bikes due in, genuinely need the space, so first come first served at £1995.
