This Series 4 Sunbeam Alpine has been with its last owner since 2009 and when its restoration started, the 1600 cc engine was reported to be a Rootes exchange engine, which is confirmed by the the plate on the engine, but the owner insisted on it being stripped and checked, the engine was stripped down and found to be good, but new shell bearing were changed in the process along with a new fuel pump fitted, New Clutch Fitted, since the engine has been rebuilt it has been stored with fresh oil. The gearbox is the optional Laycock overdrive unit and reported to be sound. The shell of the vehicle was beed blasted and new panels fitted, some were rare and expensive, the underneath being finished in detail, the top side is in primer to prevent oxidisation that needs flatted back before top coat. I believe most of the items taken off the car are with it, apart from the inlet manifold and carb, which the owner thought were with the people who overhauled the engine. Due to a bereavement we are not able to clarify this so take it these items are required. Basically a sound rolling shell with axle springs, front beam steering etc in place, now needing everything next to it re fit, new Stainless Steel Exhaust. The owner claims it cost him £12, 000 to get to this point, we have taken this Alpine in part exchange as is and are offering as you see in the photographs as is. The car was originally red, but looks like the intent was to change to Old English White, but really a blank canvas, so bring a trailer and a van for parts or we can get you a quote for delivery, trailer is not included. Great Summer / Winter project and would be good to see it finished. Very realistically priced, so no offers and we dont want to sell parts off it.
