The 1950 Studebaker cars are iconic examples of post-World War II American automotive design. At the time, Studebaker was known for its distinctive and innovative styling, largely thanks to industrial designer Raymond Loewy and his team.
The unmistakable "bullet nose" is one of the most identifiable features of the 1950 Studebaker models; this futuristic look gave them a modern, aerodynamic profile, distinct from the more boxy designs of their competitors.
This Champion is equipped with a 245. 6-cubic-inch inline-6 engine, producing 102 horsepower and featuring two innovations: an overdrive transmission that improved fuel efficiency on the highway and allowed the engine to run at lower rpm and higher speeds, and the "hill holder" mechanism, which prevented the car from rolling backward on a slope when the driver released the brake.
Early 1950s "bullet-nose" Studebakers are often featured at classic car rallies and enjoy a devoted following.
The example we present was excellently restored between 2014 and 2016.
The car is visible in our showroom in Reggio Emilia, Italy.
