Description

1972 Land Rover Serries 3 88" rag top 2. 25 petrol that was originally registered in Truro, Cornwall in 1972.
A cool looking Series 3 that has been subject to an older restoration and built up on a new Richards galvanised chassis and new Robert Owens bulkhead. From information I have on file and from the last owner the build included the following:
New brakes, new shocks, new parabolic springs, new wiring loom, new alternator, new starter solenoid, new Exmoor trim canvas hood, new doors and door tops and side glass, stainless steel fastenings, new clutch, new fuel tank and sender, new gear levers and gaiters, rear tub spare wheel mount, 2 point front seat belts, speedo drive cable, dash wiper box, rear lap belts and mounting plates. New general grabber tyres, 7. 50x16. Full respray in pastel green.

Recent work by Era classics in May/ June 2025 full inspection and service work in preparation for sale included:

Strip and paint wheels in retro Satin black and refit general grabbers.
New deluxe front seats and painted seat rails, all new door rubbers, Weber carb rebuild and carb kit, all oils and filters changed including diff, axles, overdrive, transfer box etc, , crank case breather, turner crank oil seal, crank pulley, brakes adjusted, electronic distributor and all new plugs, front shock bushes, new clutch and slave cylinders, full gearbox strip and rebuild, fuel lift pump, adjust tappets, new rear tailgate, rear wheel cylinders, rear exhaust box and centre, new window locks.

Engine health check confirms a good strong engine that looks to have been rebuilt at some point (not documented) All carbs set up and general tune up. It runs really quietly and smoothly with decent power.

Bodywork has been painted in pastel green and is in tidy overall condition but does show signs of aged patina as you would expect for a Land Rover of this vintage. Razor edge bonnet adds to the older period look with spare wheel mount if required and locking latch.

Overall it presents really well and is a very usable example that's mechanically sound with some nice patina. Its not a show queen but a LR that you can use everyday and should now only need annual service requirements making for reliable daily driver fun rain or shine.
