The first keeper kept the car for around sixteen years, using her as a holiday and weekend toy,
In 1983 the Duetto found a new home in Cape Town where she remained, until purchase by our client early 2024 whilst visiting family.
Mechanically the car looks and drives as you would hope if not better. We know that in July 2021 the gearbox was stripped and overhauled, new bearings, seals, synchro rings and selectors, a new clutch also fitted all done in Cape Town.
Following our clients purchase and once she had arrived in the UK our client sent this Duetto to Neville Byford for a thorough check over.
The invoice for this work along with works from other UK specialists are in the accompanying history file. In brief Neville went through the car front to back including brakes, suspension bushes and bump stops, new heater matrix, new rubber floor matting and carpet, all the instruments stripper and cleaned. The Speedo stopped working a wasn’t reparable, so the original odometer was replaced by Melvyn Rutter Ltd at 59010 with a correct replacement the replacement showing 24281 miles this was done in April 2025, the odometer reading is now 25560 most or that was the 243 when the car was driven to me for sale. (there is a photo of this change in the history file). so car mileage total 60289 believed correct.
