Description
History of the Alfa Romeo Duetto "The most beautiful under the sun" (quote from Alfa Romeo advertising in Germany). The Alfa Romeo Duetto is a true icon of Italian car manufacturing and one of the most stylish convertibles of the 1960s and 1970s. Officially known as the Alfa Romeo Spider, it was first presented at the 1966 Geneva Motor Show. The design is by Pininfarina, who created a timelessly elegant appearance with its curved lines and low, flat front. Particularly striking is the 'Osso di Seppia' design that characterised the first models.
This lightweight spider features the classic all-aluminium twin-cam four-cylinder engine, a sporty five-speed gearbox and front and rear disc brakes, and was therefore well ahead of its time. Inside, the two magnificent Jaeger main instruments housed in a common cap behind the three-spoke steering wheel and the three additional instruments in the centre of the cockpit are a welcome eye-catcher. However, only around 6, 325 examples of the Duetto were built Vita of the Alfa Romeo Duetto 1750 - SSC633 offered here This Alfa Romeo was probably first delivered to the Netherlands on 27. 05. 1969. According to the documents available, only two previous owners could be identified in the Netherlands. Since 2023, this original Alfa Romeo 1750 has been part of an important collection in Hamburg. The last owner parted with this spider with a heavy heart and commissioned Scuderia Sportiva Colonia to sell it. This spider is in exceptionally good condition for its age. It was repainted a few years ago in the colour Blu Olandese (AR 343) and received a new Sonnenland quality soft top two years ago. The interior is impeccable and the technical condition can be described as very good. In short, a duetto that has always been maintained in an exemplary and far-sighted manner. This Alfa Spider is a purist, sparkling, uncompromising, with very good performance. The 118 bhp 1750 version has an easy time of it with a body weighing just under 1000 kg, the engine is audible, the sound bewitching, in the open air it is full of draughts and wind and beyond 120 km, even Adriano Celentano has to really work hard to be able to vocally resist the driving and wind noise. Visually, the Duetto remains a gallant seductress, especially in this colour combination. Real ladies still turn to it today. The Duetto not only embodies the typically Italian 'dolce vita', it is above all an aesthetic and timeless convertible with incredible performance that is hard to compare. In short, a ravishing design icon, a she-wolf in sheep's clothing. The perfect car for aficionados who appreciate a sporty, highly elegant cabriolet from the first series.
