Beschreibung
The Riley Two-Point-Six was a mid-sized saloon car produced by Riley (then part of the British Motor Corporation) between 1957 and 1959. Sharing its platform with the Wolseley Six-Ninety Series III, the Two-Point-Six was powered by BMC’s robust six-cylinder C-Series engine, offering smooth performance combined with Riley’s traditional high standards of trim and finish. Only a relatively limited number were produced before the model was replaced by the Riley 4/ 68 and 4/ 72, making surviving examples increasingly scarce today.
Make & Model: Riley Two Point Six
Year: 1958
Registration: UK, originally Middlesex registered
Colour: Grey
Engine: 2600cc BMC six-cylinder “C-Series”
Transmission: 4-speed manual with overdrive
This 1958 Riley Two Point Six is a highly presentable and well-restored example of Riley’s six-cylinder saloon. The car is finished in classic grey and presents in excellent order throughout, the result of a body-off restoration completed in 2017, during which the chrome brightwork was fully re-plated. A comprehensive photographic record of the restoration accompanies the car.
The interior benefits from a new headlining and carpet set, fitted in 2019 at a cost exceeding £3, 000, offering a smart and authentic cabin presentation. Further sympathetic maintenance includes the fitting of a modern spin-on oil filter conversion in 2025.
Mechanically, the car is equipped with the BMC six-cylinder “C-Series” engine, uprated with an Austin-Healey cylinder head and fed by twin SU HD carburettors. Power is delivered through a four-speed manual gearbox with overdrive, making this a comfortable and capable cruiser.
The Riley has had just four former keepers and comes with a desirable Heritage Certificate (issued 2007) confirming it as a home-market RHD car. It was laid up in September 2023 for around 18 months but has since been recommissioned.
