This fully restored, upgraded and lovely example is a true driver’s machine. With only 86, 426 miles from new, fully documented and known ownership from 1955, there isn’t anything amiss with this wonderful car. We have invoices dating back to 1991 for its restoration and the original Buff logbook, which is a real treat. It has received a wealth of restoration and upgrades during this time. Body and chassis, engine, interior and mechanicals. Nothing has been missed and it really shows in how smoothly the car drives.
The car now runs a full aluminium body, with a rebuilt engine, gearbox and rear axle, the weight saving really shows when out on the road. A joy to look at and a joy to drive. Plenty of space for tall occupants, smooth and comfortable, it ticks a lot of boxes a lot better than many of the larger 50’s GT cars, whilst having performance to keep up with the best in the business. Especially with the overdrive, it cruises effortlessly at full pace.
On the road you’ll garner admiring glances and you’ll revel in that big inline four’s butch and throaty grumble, especially through the side exit exhaust! Gear shifts are silky smooth through the rebuilt 3 speed manual, with overdrive on 3rd working just so. The steering is also nimble and poised. It is as smooth as any 50’s car has ever been - you simply won’t find fault in how this delightful car drives, the only thing we cannot guarantee is the weather, although we implore you come and test on our beautiful local roads, we get the very best of the weather here!
TECHNICAL INFORMATION:
Having had an extensive restoration in 1991, updating the engine and rebuilding all of the mechanicals, the car presents well, but would benefit from some paintwork as this is the only real area that lets the car down. The chassis is perfect, the panels are all spot on, being upgraded to aluminium all round, which translates beautifully on the road, the weight reduction making an already nimble and adept handler even better. Add to that an upgraded anti-roll bar at the front and rear of the car, it is a true driver’s machine.
So, all the new owner will ned to do is to jump in, push the start button and you’ll be able to enjoy the car right away. It is a car for those who just really want to use it and enjoy it, not a collector’s piece, but a car to be seen on the road, to inspire the next generation of classic car enthusiasts.
