1937 Riley 12/ 4 Adelphi
Introduced late in 1935 for the 1936 season, the Adelphi was Riley’s replacement for the Stelvio. This stylish five-seater saloon was offered with either the 15hp six-cylinder engine or the ever-popular 12hp four-cylinder unit.
The Adelphi quickly became one of Riley’s best-selling models, combining refined family motoring with performance that outshone many of its rivals. Over time, however, as age and wear took its toll, numerous examples lost their original coachwork and were rebodied as specials. As a result, genuine Adelphi saloons have become increasingly scarce.
That makes this 1937 12/ 4 Adelphi all the more significant. The subject of a meticulous restoration, it now stands as one of the finest surviving examples of the model and a rare opportunity for the discerning enthusiast.
