It was in 2002 that, based on the Clio RS 2. 0 16V, Renault Sport developed and marketed a very limited series (only 300 units produced), named “Jean Ragnotti”, after the famous French rally driver.
This version is 80 kg lighter (weight savings achieved partly by replacing the spare wheel with two puncture-proof canisters) and benefits from optimised running gear.
Specific springs lower the overall ride height by 3 mm, and special wheels widen the tracks, at both the front and rear.
Other chassis modifications give this radical version better aerodynamics and a considerable gain in downforce.
Finally, aesthetically one notes the fitment of Turini wheels with a design reminiscent of racing models and a metallic “Bleu Mondial” paint specific to this model.
The example we offer was delivered in France on 27 September 2002 and known to have four owners until May 2016, when the current owner acquired it.
It still possesses its logbook and service book stamped up to 51, 150 km. In 2016 the new buyer, a collector and rally enthusiast, decided to restore his “Ragnotti” to a presentation and mechanical condition close to new: numerous works were carried out in 2017 (mechanical invoices available), complete repaint and the car presents today in an absolutely exceptional condition.
It has covered barely 1, 000 km since then, having left its heated garage only 4 to 5 times a year for small Sunday spins. The timing belt, water pump, discs, pads, and shock absorbers all had been done at 78, 430 km. We have just redone the timing belt and the oil change for delivery so that the car is ready to return to the road in a faultless state… The roof lining has also just been redone by a specialist, a small known issue on this model. Finally, having had the chance to drive it for a few kilometres, I can assure you that one immediately finds oneself with the same legendary smile as Jean Ragnotti when the first bends arrive…
