Description
Fiat Coupe 20V Turbo
“The Ultimate Fiat”
Lavant Straight Classics presents a 90s icon, the fastest production Fiat in the world. One of Chris Bangle’s earlier designs with its unique bonnet mounted headlights and slashes in the side profile above the ‘fan blade’ 4 spoke wheels. This is a later 1997 model fitted with the 5-cylinder 20 valve turbocharged engine, 5 speed gearbox and ‘Visco drive’ limited slip differential. Exterior finished in the highly desirable ‘Sprint Blu’ and on the inside, near spotless black leather upholstery with body colour trim accents.
The Fiat has covered 144, 000 miles, this may sound like a lot but over its 28 years, that’s an average of 5100 miles per year, under half the national average, the last thing you want is a nineties classic which has spent 10 or more years of its life not being used, this doesn’t just have to be your weekend car, it’s more than capable of still being used for everyday life due to its great practicality. Just 4 previous owners on the logbook.
Fitted with its original Clarion Cassette/ FM Stereo, 6 CD Multichanger (boot mounted) and 6 Speakers. Other standard equipment includes electric windows, electric mirrors, floor mounted boot release, a race style alloy fuel cap, dash mounted analogue clock, leather steering wheel & gear knob, foot rest, glass sunroof, central locking, rear wiper, 2 keys, a brown master key and a blue key and an oil temperature & oil pressure gauge, 3 Bar from cold coming down to 2. 5 Bar at operating temperature.
On the outside, 16-inch alloy wheels in great condition with 205/ 50/ 16 tyres, a pair of Michelin’s on the front and a pair of Firestone’s on the back. Brembo 4 piston callipers at the front providing modern levels of stopping power and cast single piston callipers with an integral handbrake at the rear. At the front we have (correctly restored with UV resistant 2K lacquer) projector beam headlights, front fog lights, a ‘Ferrari 360’ inspired front bumper and on the side ‘LE’ type twist side skirts.
At the rear, a completely colour coded rear bumper similar to the late ‘LE’ cars, a surprisingly spacious boot for a car of its type, it is also possible to fold down one side of the rear seats to fit skis or something of a similar length, there is also a space saver spare wheel and an emergency jack/ wheel brace setup.
Underneath is in very good condition, recent work, which was carried out, any areas of light surface rust were wire brushed, treated with rust converter and subsequently sealed with Dinitrol 4941 rust prohibitive underbody protection. All undertrays present, front, rear and fuel filter guard. Recently 4 new springs have been fitted.
The clutch is in great condition with a nice biting point with no signs of slipping. The engine is totally standard with no modifications or remapping to the ECU, it's a looked after un-messed with example. In the early 2000s a stainless cat-back Milltek exhaust was fitted, fortunately there is no low/ mid or high-speed drone, sounds as quiet as a standard system but looks a little bit sportier from the back.
There is a huge stack of service history going back to when it was new in ‘97, with original handbooks present, lots of previous MOT’s and invoices and an original brochure. The cam belt was last replaced at 143k miles in 2022. Also, a new MOT which will only need renewing in November 2026. New wiper blades and Fiat badges fitted in November 2025.
As can be seen from the photos and videos the paintwork and interior are in excellent condition and offers a great driving experience on the back roads.
