Description

Renault VivaSport Cabriolet 21CV – 1934. The flagship model of Renault’s range at the start of the 1930s, the VivaSport stood as the pinnacle of the marque’s luxury and modernity at the time. Produced over a short period, from 1933 to 1935, and in very limited quantities, it remains today one of the most sought-after pre-war Renaults.

Powered by an inline six with side valves of 3, 620 cm³, the VivaSport offered performance and suppleness far above the standards of the era. Its streamlined coachwork, designed under the influence of Marcel Riffard, reflected Renault’s aim to place this model in an aerodynamic and stately approach while preserving a high level of comfort for long journeys.

This elegant four-seat cabriolet, dressed in ivory with a burgundy interior and a burgundy hood, presents a particularly balanced silhouette. Painted wire wheels, octagonal Jaeger instrumentation, the folding windscreen, running boards and the side-mounted spare wheel contribute to a refined and authentic presentation, typical of the great French pre‑war tourers.

The original engine is paired with a three-speed manual gearbox. The running gear is sound and smooth, with easy starts, a stable idle and coherent road manners for a car of this generation. The cable-operated mechanical brakes are effective and progressive, in keeping with the standards of the period.

The restoration, carried out several years ago, was done with respect for the model. The paint is even, the upholstery and wood trim are in very good condition, the engine bay is clean and the chassis shows no structural defects. The instruments, lighting and accessories are all operational.

Ready to drive, this VivaSport is suitable for historic rallies as well as concours d’élégance or prestige drives. It offers driving pleasure and a presence far superior to the majority of contemporary four‑cylinder models. Rare, elegant and mechanically reliable, it perfectly embodies the French automotive high end of the 1930s.
