Many invoices for parts over the years
Founded in 1988, the Superbike World Championship proved an immediate draw pitting 1, 000cc Twins against 750cc Fours. Competing manufacturers were quick to devise homologation specials, Honda’s RC30 locking horns with Yamaha’s OW01 and Kawasaki’s ZXR750. However, while the RC30 and OW01 were handbuilt exotica, the ZXR750 was more road bike biased. Based around a chunky twin-spar aluminium frame, the Kawsaki was powered by a 749cc DOHC 16-valve engine allied to six-speed transmission. With some 106bhp / 56lbft on tap, it could exceed 150mph. Looking every inch the racetrack escapee with its aggressive fairings and tri-colour livery, the ZXR750 – especially in its earliest H1 guise – had notoriously firm rear suspension. Later versions were more refined / tractable but less characterful. An undoubted modern classic, the ZXR750 H1 is becoming ever more sought after.
Accompanied by a host of parts receipts, this particular example is said to have been well looked after by its previous custodians. Part of a Japanese motorcycle collection which is now being dispersed, the Kawasaki has been on static display of late. As such, a degree of recommissioning / checking over is advisable. Great value when compared to a RC30 or OW01, this highly presentable ZXR750 H1 is offered for sale with a current V5C Registration Document, the aforementioned parts receipts and sundry old MOT certificates.
