1984 Mazda RX-7 – Restored, Rebuilt Engine, Stunning Example
I’ve owned this Mazda RX-7 since 2018 and it has been a real passion project for me over the years. It’s a car that means a lot personally, but it simply doesn’t get used anymore and deserves to be enjoyed.
A considerable amount of money has been invested into the car. Several years ago, I commissioned a full engine rebuild by Pip Gardner, one of the UK’s most highly regarded rotary specialists, at a cost of approximately £6, 500. The car starts and runs perfectly.
Prior to that, the car was fully repainted and underwent various fabrication works, with photographic evidence of the restoration available. Originally yellow, I chose this colour again for nostalgic reasons, as my first car in the 1980s was an RX-7 in the same colour.
Additional work includes:
• Refurbished wheels
• New tyres (fitted a few years ago, minimal use since)
The car presents beautifully and is a real head-turner.
It has been stored in my garage and started regularly, but it hasn’t been driven on the road for a few years. As such, it will require light recommissioning before regular use, although it runs well.
It could also benefit from a replacement windscreen, as there is a chip on the passenger side which I had intended to repair but never got around to.
Key Details:
• Approx. 45, 000 miles (believed genuine)
• Only 4 owners from new
• UK supplied car
• Tax & MOT exempt
• V5 currently lists colour as yellow (I will update this on sale)
• Currently fitted with black & silver plates (can be reverted if preferred)
In total, I’ve invested over £16, 000 into this car.
This is a reluctant sale as it’s a fantastic piece of nostalgia for me, but it deserves to be driven and enjoyed rather than sitting in the garage.
