A rare beast. With almost 20 years of comprehensive Main Dealer and specialist US-importer service history from new, this fully loaded American icon presented in special order Indigo Blue Metallic with full Mushroom Hide is a sight to behold. Offering selectable 4WD and enough torque to pull a small bungalow, the truck boasts an insane specification and could happily be used daily and taken to American car shows at the weekend. And you`re unlikely to see another with just 44 currently road registered here in the UK.
General Motors launched the Blazer under the Chevrolet branding as far back as 1969 and through several incarnations it survives to this day. Originally a rather boxy and rugged off-roader, the current interpretation is a more curvy SUV but always with the same goal: that of providing modern America with a go-anywhere lifestyle vehicle. The S-10 model, based upon the pickup of the same coding, was launched in 1983 and ran for 22 years through two generations, the second introduced in 1994 for the 1995 model year. Only available with the 192 BHP 4. 3 litre V6 Vortec engine, the Second Generation came in several trim packages from the Base model through to the LS and higher-spec LT finishes whilst the top specification Trailblazer offered gold-accented alloys and daylight running lights. Whilst the right-hand drive models had been built in Indonesia since 1995, General Motors commenced US production for export markets from 1998 with many examples going to Japan and a handful destined for the UK to be sold through specialist importers in conjunction with Vauxhall Motors UK.
Our Blazer was built for export in June 1999 at the Linden Plant in New Jersey and was ultimately sold through Spekehall (later Speke Hall Motors) in Liverpool in April 2001 to a local lady. An LT model in special order Indigo Blue metallic with Mushroom Hide, the truck came with optional 4L60-E automatic 4-speed transmission and selectable 4-wheel drive. Early servicing was undertaken by Lookers Vauxhall and a local specialist whilst all maintenance from 2007 to 2020 was undertaken by the importers themselves, Speke Hall Motors. No less than 16 service stamps record annual inspections from 2001 to 2015 whilst the period 2015 to 2020 is documented by a considerable file of receipts and invoices. Notable work detailed includes regular plug changes, replacement rear shock absorbers, new starter motor, an overhaul of the cooling system, a replacement drivers door mirror, new anti-roll bar links and bushes, fresh brake hoses and usual oil and filter changes. Around 5 years ago (with mileage recorded of around 74, 000), the truck was sold to a mechanic in Chesterfield who continued with regular maintenance with parts from Rock Auto in Madison, being sold again in 2024 to a garage proprietor also in Chesterfield. He also serviced the vehicle himself (with parts again from Rock Auto) replacing both front wheel-bearings, brakes and bushes. In early 2026, the truck was sold again and headed south to Dorset where it was used and enjoyed for a short time by a local tree surgeon. Only a recent house move and lack of car-parking has lead to its reluctant sale. Since acquiring the Blazer, we have very little but fuel in, polish it and take it to a couple of local shows.
The truck appears just as it appears in the photographs. Twenty-five years of patina are evident to the bodywork and original paintwork with minor dings and scratches to most panels, whilst 15” factory alloys shod with Maxxis M/ T Bighorn 235/ 75 rubber could benefit from light refurbishment. But that said, the Blazer does polish up well and very much looks the part when parked alongside other American classics. And the underside is quite superb. Inside, the Mushroom hide is all in very good order, whilst door cards, carpets, dash and headlining are all excellent. But this truck is all about the specification. It is insane:

Turn the key and the big V6 literally roars into life and settles down quickly to a purposeful burble. On the road, the Blazer is impressive with huge torque translating into surprising acceleration, excellent brakes and typical “Jeep-like” road manners. It is supremely comfortable and has enough toys to keep even the most ardent fiddler occupied for hours. I have been using it daily this past week and have thoroughly enjoyed it. Part of this pleasure has been as a result of the exhaust note - more muscle car than old truck and it certainly turns heads on this alone.
The Blazer comes with substantial history including a full and original Book Pack including a fully stamped Warranty and Maintenance Book (16 stamps to 2015), Service Europe Book and Card, Owner’s Manual, a large file of bills from 2015 to 2024, every MoT Certificate from 2004 to 2026 (exemplary history too), a current MoT to November 2026, a current V5C and 3 sets of keys.
A super rare, all-American icon with fantastic provenance. And RHD too.
