Description
ON OFFER here is a 1964 Wolseley Hornet Mark II in beige/ cream with a blue roof and blue leather interior. There is an interesting back story to this wonderful wee Wolseley.
As the owner explained in an article in Classic Car Weekly (copy in the car's history file), he purchased it way back in 1987 and then gradually restored it to its former glory. The resto photos in the file depict the car stripped back to a new shell. New panels were used, new sills, floors and anything it needed. The underside was de-rusted and repaired where necessary and everything primed, painted and rust proofed, Sub frames too. It was then completely refurbished with all new moving parts, most of which were original BMC parts. The engine was removed and needed only a de-coke and new gaskets.
The same owner (It was a one-owner car prior to him) also told me that it has only been driven in and out of his garage since the resto was finished all those years ago. Today it sounds as sweet as can be and I drove it through all four gears while trying to keep the mileage down to the 60, 600. It moved magnificently and did exactly what is would have done at new when I opted to change from 3rd to 2nd. It went in at quite high revs without a hint of a crunch. Brakes are there too.
This was a proper glass out, engine out, bare shell restoration and, the owner told me, painted on a "spit". What a rare opportunity to acquire a Hornet with everything done to such a high standard.
