The Iso Grifo is a limited-edition grand tourer produced by the Italian car manufacturer Iso between 1965 and 1974.
It was intended to compete with the Grand Touring models from Ferrari and Maserati.
Company boss Renzo Rivolta had already successfully sold the company's own "Isetta" to European car manufacturers through licensing agreements. This provided the Italian automaker with the financial backing for its luxury sports cars.
For the Iso Grifo Coupé, Renzo Rivolta enlisted the coachbuilder Bertone to design an innovative coupé skin with space for two passengers, luggage and a powerful American eight-cylinder engine.
The design is an early work by Giorgetto Giugiaro, who was working at Bertone at the time.
Giotto Bizzarrini was commissioned to design the mechanics; he had previously been chief designer at Ferrari, responsible for the 250 GTO, among other things.
Just over 400 vehicles were produced in two series and in different performance levels.
Our Iso Grifo GL 350 was delivered in its home country of Italy in 1967.
A special extra is the 5-speed ZF transmission. This is a rarity in itself and was only very rarely ordered
In the 1970s it was in Germany for a while before being sold to a Swede in 1977.
In Sweden, the car was driven for a long time by a lady from Malmö.
About 15 years ago, the Grifo returned to Germany and was completely restored between 2015 and 2018 with enormous effort.
We have received invoices totaling over €400, 000.
During the restoration, great care was taken to keep the car as authentic as possible. For example, a large part of the interior still has its original leather.
The vehicle is registered in Germany and can be used immediately.
