The final iteration of the Porsche 356 arrived in 1964, coinciding with the company's purchase of Reutter's coach-building firm. Called the 356 C, the new model introduced four-wheel disc brakes, a ZF steering rack, and a 12-volt electrical system to the already impressive 356 B (T6). The most significant improvement, however, was the newly available 'SC' variant of the long-running 1600cc Flat-4. Featuring a higher compression ratio and a counter-weighted crankshaft, the 'SC' motors produced 95 horsepower – the most powerful pushrod engines produced by Porsche up to the time.

As before, the 356 was offered in Coupé and Cabriolet body styles. As per usual, the Cabriolet was traditionally the most expensive when new with its body-color windshield frame and heavily-padded top. Such is the engineering excellence of these cars, they can be used throughout the year in impressive comfort. Today, the final 356s are some of the most desirable, with the high-performance SCs typically commanding the highest prices thanks to their enduring desirability and relative rarity.

A left-hand drive example dating from the penultimate year of production, this incredible 1965 Porsche 356 SC Cabriolet was completed at Porsche’s Zuffenhausen factory on 28 August 1965 and finished in stunning Bali Blue over a Fawn leather interior with a Beige folding soft top and a factory body-color removable hardtop. According to its Porsche-issued Certificate of Authenticity, this range-topping SC Cabriolet was optioned with leather headrests, a chrome luggage rack, wood-rimmed steering wheel, Coco floormats in blue, an exterior thermometer, and Michelin tires.

This exquisite 356 was subject to a no-expense-spared, show-quality restoration in its rare and highly desirable original factory color combination. Fitted with nearly every available option, this investment-grade 356 SC still retains its original matching numbers engine which, along with its exceptional restoration, make this the perfect example to add to any premier collection. We are proud to offer what we believe to be one of the very best 356 SC Cabriolets to come to market in years! For the most demanding collector, investor, or enthusiast who desires only the very best an investment price!
