This is a 1988 BMW R80 naked.
UK registered from new, and unusually, a naked bike from new.
The last custodian of the bike acquired it 22 years ago in 2004, and it been garaged and on SORN since 2009. It has just gone through the workshop, obviously requiring significant re commissioning after such along slumber. Work included new clutch (rear main and oil pump seals replace as a precaution), new battery, replacement stainless exhaust collector box, new tyres and tubes, new seat, new plugs, new air and oil filters, and of course new engine, gearbox, shaft and bevel oils. Valve clearances adjusted, and carbs balanced.
The original, factory metalic paintwork is still very, very smart, and it appears the bike has had easy life, covering a genuine 24k miles from new. A couple of years and she’ll be Historic status.
