Body / Exterior:
The model shown here is a 1965 March Caravelle 1100 Cabriolet in its period colour “Narvik Blue 411”.
The coachwork was restored by a specialist a few years ago. At this occasion, the chassis received a full new paint.
After a professional glossing performed with orbital machine by our workshop, we noted a small, barely visible knock on the front face and on the rear valance.
We also noted a paint chip on the edge of the passenger door that was touched up.
The aluminium side mouldings are complete and without major defects.
The original bumpers are correctly aligned and in good condition, despite small traces of oxidation on the rear bumper bar and a slight dent at the front right.
The mohair hood in “Black” is in excellent condition and easy to operate. Invoice available (€1, 500).
The hood cover in black faux leather is in very good condition and positions easily despite a slight snag.
The 4 15” steel wheels in “Grey” are in very good condition and equipped with their original chrome hubcaps. The set shows a few superficial specks.
The tyres with white sidewalls will be replaced with new tyres matching the original specification prior to delivery.
This example comes with its spare wheel, hand crank and original jack.
Interior:
The interior presents in very good condition.
The soft black faux leather upholstery with matching piping is in excellent condition despite a small cigarette burn on the passenger seat.
The matching inner door panels are in good condition, with no wear or sagging.
We noted a small snag on the passenger armrest.
The dashboard cap in black faux leather is in good condition as is the body-colour dashboard.
All JAEGER on-board instrumentation is fully functional.
The PHILIPS radio no longer works but has been kept for aesthetic reasons.
The bakelite steering wheel and gear knob are in excellent condition.
The carpets in black are in good condition.
This example is equipped with a passenger-side grab handle.
Among the interior options and features of interest that this example has, we note:
The passenger grab handle.
Chassis:
The vehicle on the hoist confirms a healthy shell, with no visible accident damage or apparent structural corrosion.
The basics: floors, sills, lower sides and wheel arches are in very good condition.
During the dynamic test, no abnormal droning was detected from the body or running gear (tie rods, bushings, etc.).
Braking is balanced, aligned and its effectiveness is in line with period norms.
The rear brake calipers were replaced with new in 2025 (Invoice €636).
Front and rear brake discs will be replaced with new parts before delivery.
The technical inspection carried out ahead of delivery will confirm proper operation of the whole.
Engine / Transmission:
The mechanics run perfectly.
The engine was restored in 1999. The following were performed:
Removal and opening of the engine block, replacement of sleeves and pistons and new bearing shells for connecting rods and mains, as well as the timing chain and chain tensioner (Invoice available).
Compression tests and road test by our workshop confirm a healthy block.
The four-cylinder starts immediately, with no smoke or unusual noises and the idle is stable, as confirmed by the 360° video with the engine running available at the start of the slideshow.
When warmed up, the revs rise smoothly without jerks.
This example is equipped with ECONOGREEN allowing 98 RON use and avoiding valve clatter or recession of valve seats.
All four gears in the gearbox engage and disengage without issue, particularly the synchros.
Clutch grip is good.
As is typical with these models, engine/ gearbox/ axle seals are only average.
