Due to lack of time and budget, I am putting my 1966 Caravelle R1133 up for sale …
I bought this vehicle in 2016 and since then I have driven relatively little because there were quite a few jobs to do on it.
On the positive side, the interior is pristine as it was refitted by the previous owner. He restored the vehicle in the spirit of a 1963 Floride S, hence a few inconsistencies.
If I summarise the main works carried out:
- Elimination of play in the steering
- Suspension straps
- Horn (plus a three-tone horn installed but not connected)
- Restoration of the fuel tank (including interior resin lining)
- Purchase and fitting of a flywheel guard plate
- Various bushings (silent blocks)
- New bumpers (stainless steel)
- And in October 2025:
o Copper re-core of both radiators (heater + cooling)
o Replacing the water pump with a high-flow unit
o Replacing all hoses in the cooling circuit
o Replacing rear brake calipers
o Replacing front brake flexible hoses
The asking price is €20, 000 and I include with it:
- Documentation
- A stock of parts (including engine parts, accessories, bodywork but not all usable)
- A Floride hard top to restore
- A leather tonneau cover
- A cover for storage
The MOT test passed on 12 November 2025 shows that the front-left, front-right and rear-right wheel bearings will need replacing before the next test.
A fault concerning the rear-right brake light was reported and then fixed. It was due to improper bulb positioning.
The registration document is now in my name and in "normal" (not collection) format to give the future owner the choice.
Outstanding works to be done:
- There is a dent on the nose (in the area where the CARAVELLE monogram is usually found),
- A small dent on the front bonnet,
- The wheel bearings mentioned earlier,
- The soft top would deserve replacement and the hard top awaits restoration,
- The tyres are starting to crack,
- Replace the "Floride S" monogram with a "Caravelle" badge on the front left wing,
- Replace the side indicator on the front left wing,
- And if purist, replace the steering wheel with an original one …
The vehicle is near Angers.
