Description
In the same family for 26 years
Subject to a near £40, 000 restoration by renowned marque specialist ‘The Karmann Ghia Centre’
Upgraded to twin carburetors
The Volkswagen Karmann Ghia represents one of the most elegant collaborations in automotive history. Styled by the Italian design house Carrozzeria Ghia and hand-built by the German coachbuilder Karmann, its beautifully sculpted bodywork concealed the dependable, air-cooled mechanicals of the Volkswagen Beetle, combining Italian flair with Volkswagen reliability.
This particular example was imported into the UK in July 1988. Having remained within the same family for many years, the car eventually fell into disrepair before being entrusted to marque specialist The Karmann Ghia Centre for a comprehensive, ground up restoration. Finished in deep gloss black, the bodywork presents impeccably, with excellent panel fit and a superb paint finish that highlights the car’s iconic lines.
The interior has been completely retrimmed in striking red upholstery, creating a classic and eye catching contrast that perfectly complements the exterior. The extensive restoration was carried out regardless of cost, and the vehicle is accompanied by a detailed record of the work undertaken, together with photographic documentation charting the restoration process from start to finish. This provides prospective buyers with complete confidence in the quality and thoroughness of the work completed.
For collectors and enthusiasts seeking one of the very best Karmann Ghias available, this remarkable example demands serious consideration.
