950 PPF is a fantastic example of the Lotus Elan +2 S130 having been fully restored over the last fifteen years. With an immaculate presentation, rebuilt engine, and galvanized chassis, this Lotus ticks all the boxes.
It was first registered on the 10th of September 1973 as NBW 191M in Chigwell, London and spent the first three years in the capital. A Mr Peter William Farrow then purchased the car in 1976 and kept the Lotus for a staggering thirty one years. Within his ownership the registration was changed to 950 PPF and upon failing its MOT in 2003 was taken off the road. 4 years later, the S130 was sold to a gentleman with grand visions of a beautiful restoration but with time being limited, little progress was made. In 2011, Mr David Gary Potts of Gary Potts Motors in Durham took custody of the car and began to thoroughly restore the Lotus. While amongst a collection of both restored and project cars, the Lotus received a huge program of mechanical recommissioning. The engine was fully rebuilt by McDonald Racing with the cylinders being bored +020" a new unleaded head being fitted along with new bearings, seals and gaskets. The gearbox was refurbished and a new clutch kit, clutch salve cylinder and clutch master cylinder were fitted. The suspension and steering was overhauled, new wheels and tyres were purchased and most importantly everything was fitted to a new galvanized chassis.
The most recent keeper bought the car in 2014, and while the mechanical condition was first class, the older 1980's paintwork was showing its age. In 2018, Steve Edwards of Halifax was commissioned to carry out a body restoration on the car, the panels were prepared and repainted to a very high standard. Mr Edwards has a large portfolio of fiberglass paintwork and is specialised in TVR body repairs evidenced by the delightful condition of our S130. Accompanying the car is a comprehensive history file detailing meticulous maintenance and ownership documents back to when the car was new.
