Citroen XM 2. 1td Hatchback SED series1. 5
I bought this XM last year to save it becoming broken for parts or simply scrapped due to the work required to get it safe and drivable again.
When I bought it it was rough, and I mean rough!
Since then it has had the rotten sills and as such jacking points chopped out and replaced and treated to protect them in the future(as long as no stupid tyre idiot jacks them up on the sills again! As well as a small section of the rear subframe.
It then had the front disks and pads replaced with genuine Citroen items as well as BOTH from brake cables. Now these parts alone are no longer sold or made by Citroen and I found the last brake cables and brake pads stocked by a Citroen dealer in the country! When you use the parking brake you can feel the difference as most cars are either still running their original cables which are now quite stretched or after market items which are simply never upto the quality of original ones.
The cars hydraulic circuit and suspension has been given a good once over by a local specialist and whilst the Strut tops are crusty they have not rusted through and should last a good while longer if treated at least once a year with anti rust paint and rubber care. They can be rebuilt for approx £50 each via a European agent which I can supply to the next owner. The car rises and falls at request from the suspension adjustment lever and rides as well as a hydraulic Citroen should do across any road surface, IE it rides like the magic carpet it should do.
The car comes with three keys, two normal basic blank type keys and one remote fob unit.
The door locks user the remote fob key to lock and ignition works off the normal keys. I know the ignition keys are the original ones that the car came with and i can supply details for a specialist who will if the complete lockset and ignition barrel are sent to them will reset them to all work off the key blank.
The XM comes with the Bosch Diesel Injection pump which is good for those wanting to run it on Veggie oil or just to have a more reliable setup than the Lucas units.
The gearbox changes up and down as it should do without judder or hesitance or leaks.
The engine performs and boosts without any issue and returns good fuel economy as you would expect from this engine (upto approx 45mpg on a run possibly more).
The alloys are in very good condition as is most of the bodywork.
Air conditioning system has had quite a few new parts in the last few years by its past owner and blows ICE cold and isn't low on pressure
As with any car that is 23years old there are some issues for the next owner to deal with and why this car is at the price it is.
Known faults,
Dent/ marks on passenger side rear quarter(shown in the photos)
Sunroof doesn't work, could be a fuse or blown motor but not looked at it at all.
Fuel filter housing is from a different vehicle(correct one is supplied though for next owner to fit)
Battery isn't the best in the world
Front accumulator sphere is getting low and could do with replacement (£20 at most specialists)
New wipers needed all round as they smear quite badly
Locks all need resetting to match (£50)
Leather needs a good clean and condition but has no tears on it anywhere
Bonnet and nose cone have been touched up in places on closer inspection
The auxiliary belt tensioner and the belt will need replacing(squeaks when engine is cold&AC on)
Its not perfect but very few are and in the normal rust spots this has none as its all been taken care of as part of the work ive had undertaken to restore her.
