Hexagon Classics are delighted to offer this wonderful example of the Porsche 928 S4, which provides a genuine opportunity to purchase one of the remaining low mileage examples of Porsche’s top-of-the-range car. This luxuriously comfortable car also meets the demands of the performance minded driver. These dual roles were the original design criteria for the marque’s flagship transaxle model. Developed in Weissach, the 928 “ Land Shark” set new standards in cornering and ABS braking.
This 928 S4 variant debuted in the second half of 1986 as a 1987 model, with an updated version of the 5. 0 L V8 for all exports markets that produced 316 hp. It had a larger torque converter for the automatic variants and some significant styling updates, including the new style front & rear bumpers and rear wing which gave the car a cleaner, sleeker look. The performance of the car was unique in its class.
MotorSport magazine wrote, “like any car, the 928 responds best to smooth driving, and it clings through the tightest bends in a supremely predictable way. A modicum of understeer tells the driver how hard he is pressing on, and if it starts to increase, a gentle lift of the throttle edges the fat coupe back into line. Even at high cornering speeds the 928 S4 feels absolutely settled, asking for more acceleration to squirt from the exit of the bend, which can be fed in with complete confidence in the traction available.”
The true class of this 928 S4 is only fully revealed on close inspection of the interior, with its sumptuous materials and ergonomically conceived layout. The driving experience can only be described as superb.
Supplied new by AFN Ltd Porsche West London, the vehicle was delivered to its first owner on the Isle of Man, where the local Official Porsche Centre, Corkill’s, then looked after its maintenance. Presented in immaculate condition, this Porsche 928 has 17 service stamps, and an excellent history file. It is also complete with spare keys, M. O. T history and historic tax discs.
