• Built 3rd – 16th April 1974
• Number 1559 of the 2, 591 original V8s

No expense spared bare metal 2003 restoration, the body was fully prepared from 1974 original car with all panels replaced. Full photographic record of the work done with all receipts retained. Professionally painted in two pack BRG. The engine is running well with good oil pressure and it is mated to the five speed Rover gearbox. Webasto sunroof rebuilt by Peter Harvey in matching green

Sensible handling, reliability and safety upgrades have been undertaken including;

Every mechanical item has been refurbished or replaced with new parts (receipts available)

A Hi-Torque starter motor more suited to a V8 is fitted replacing the heat prone original Leyland motor. (Relay and rectifier bridge controlled to retain original ballast resistor ignition)

The correct V8 brake callipers were refurbished and ‘Greenstuff’ pads fitted.

Rover LT77 five speed gearbox, fully reconditioned. Replaces original box that was always marginal for the power generated by the V8.

The suspension has been upgraded with Spax adjustable shock absorbers replacing the old lever arm units.

New carpets, leather seats and interior in biscuit with green piping.

High pressure Waxoil treatment in all box sections and fully undersealed. Schutz stone chip applied on lower 10cm of the bodywork under the BRG top topcoat.

In 2016 new 15 inch wheels looking identical to original unique MGB GT V8 chrome and alloy wheels were fitted (See photos). They have alloy centre and a highly polished alloy rims. (Developed and supplied by Clive Wheatley of mgv8parts). Fitted with modern radials the rolling circumference is very close to the original 14 inch wheels when fitted with the now unavailable high profile radials.
Quality tyres fitted in 2016, the spare remains as new and unused
Internal emergency cut out switch

Dual separately wired Ignition and Fuel pump immobilisers (relay controlled)

Batteries rewired in parallel, original expensive and short lived 6 volt batteries replaced by identical ‘form and fit’ quality 12v batteries

Gas strut conversion on tailgate (Original spring units retained and included in the sale)
