Description

Here is my Citroen ZX Reflex 1. 4i estate and I will tell you what I know about it. I bought it around 18 months ago and it has been registered in my name since then. This is the first time I have even tried to sell it as I had a strange attraction to it and intended to use it as a "gofer" type vehicle. You know, handy to take the dog out in or handy for runs to the tip and so on. It never happened. It's way, way too good for that. In fact the interior is nigh on perfect with no damage or wear to the seats, the carpets, the dash or the headlining. Exterior-wise it is quite amazing. There are no visible signs of any rust or rot. No door bottom problems, nor anything wrong with arches, wings or sills. The MoT had just run out when I acquired her and I never got round to testing it. Apart from driving on private roads, owned by a friend of mine, she has been garaged here at home and never even sat outside on a winter's day! I am as certain as I can be that she would sail through an MoT. Underside is great and brakes received a lot of attention a couple of years ago (see bills). They have never stuck on etc.

She drives like a dream, has plenty of go for a 1400 and is incredibly comfortable. Until a few years ago (2012) she had covered just 73, 000 miles. Then she had a change of owner as a guy needed a car to commute in. He took the mileage up to just over 100k which is where it is now. I am told that this was practically all 5th gear motorway driving. She also had a new clutch at 94, 000 miles.

The condition of this now mega-rare ZX estate is quite astounding. You could even show it. Well, it is 21-years-old. A quasi-classic I guess.

Her original service book is stamped up to just short of 70, 000 miles and both tax disc holder and key fob still bear the original dealer's details. She is bonny, practical, ultra clean and a pleasure to drive. I now need my garage back for more valuable stock. Shame really, but she will be more value to a new owner than she is to me, where she just sits and goes in and out of the garage these days. Battery needs jump leads to spring into life, but she is as sweet as you like when she is idling. Don't know if it would charge with a long drive or not.

As with all my classic cars, I regard them as the equivalent of motoring antiques. Even the very best available cannot be perfect. Since the motor car was invented, vehicles have ceased to be perfect once they leave the dealer's showroom. I do not like concourse classics, and have little time for those who take them to shows on trailers, clean the tyre treads with a toothbrush and then sit po-faced at the front of their vehicle all day. Classic cars are to be loved, enjoyed, driven, improved, repaired, tinkered with and hopefully pampered. Even the best will show some signs of wear and tear commensurate with their age. Do not expect a 50-year-old car to be in the same condition as your wife's 6-month old Range Rover. Although I suppose some could actually be in a superior condition come to think of it (sorry, joke!). I love my Georgian dining table, despite all its centuries of repair work. If had wanted a new table then maybe I should have gone to Oak Furniture Land!

I accept all major debit/ credit cards and a ten per cent deposit is required at the point of sale with the balance due within three days. I can also assist with delivery and so please ask for a quote. Thanks, Martin the details below).
