Description
A beautiful 101 series Sprint normale in the best colours, matching numbers.
History
Our Giulietta Sprint was built on 20/ 01/ 1961 (per Fazio museo Alfa Romeo letter in the history file) and delivered at Alfa Romeo dealer Società Aguzzoli & C. Parma on 31. 03. 1961 and first registered in Parma (PR) on 18. 04. 1961.
It was sold new in Parma on 22. 04. 1961 to Franco Cavazzini at list price of 1. 735. 000 Lire. Our car was specified from new with the rare factory option of wing vents, the only such example we have seen, which are manually operated from inside the car.
We have a complete ownership history for this vehicle, and it stayed in Parma until the mid 1980s when it moved to Sicily, always staying in enthusiast ownership.
At some point the Sprint has undergone a sympathetic restoration, which today presents as a nicely mellowed older restoration, with great patina.
We imported the car to the UK recently and it is sold with an age related UK registration.
Body
Importantly the chassis on this Sprint is in excellent condition and appears entirely rust and accident free, having lived in dry southern Italy its whole life. The body wears an older repaint in the original rosso colour and the paint has a good lustre and an even shine, with some age related paint defects. All opening panels open and shut like new and panel gaps are tight and even.
Glass is all good with some abrasions to the passenger door glass. External trim is 100% complete and generally nice. The bumpers are undamaged but have some pickling to the chrome; light lenses are all undamaged.
Mechanics
The matching numbers engine is very sweet, giving good power. Transmission, suspension and brakes are also very good, and the car drives just as it should, with a nice tight feel.
Tyres are recent Vredestein radials and the exhaust system is also a recent replacement. The under bonnet reveals a sharply presented and leak free engine bay with all the right finishes, with much recent maintenance in evidence.
We will be giving the car a lubrication service prior to sale, and the brakes and carb have just been rebuilt.
New MoT.
Interior
What a lovely place to sit this is. The interior is a combination of original (e. g headlining) and some sensitive retrimming (e. g carpets). The upholstery is in fine condition and the dashboard is undamaged with all instruments present and correct.
Boot
Original and complete with rubber mat, tool roll, jack and spare wheel.
Summary
Not your usual over restored Sprint, this is a gorgeous original example which looks and feels just right.
