Description

For sale my 1990 Rallye Golf G60 Syncro, in Tornado red (she's called Gloria). I have owned the car for the past 13 years, it currently has 191664 km or 119094 miles on the clock. MOT march 2018 (no advisories).

Price £27000, open to sensible offers.

History
The car was imported in 2000, and has had 2 previous UK owners and is HPI clear with paper work. Tornado red, sunroof, standard half leather none electric Rallye recaro seats, leather door cards.

I bought the car on ebay as a last minute treat, not knowing a lot about the Rallye golf in 2004. The car was completely standard and original other than KW coil-over suspension and a CD player, full service history and a charger recon in 2003. The suspension was swapped to FK/ Koni coil-overs and a supersprint rear, mid box and de-cat pipe and used carefully for many years as a daily driver until 2011. The car did get a full respray in 2007, and was well maintained over the years. I took great care of the car and was asked many times if I wanted to sell it, but never could. I parked the car up fully working, just no mot or tax waiting to be restored in 2011.

Restoration

The restoration took me a little over 5 years, all work was carried out by myself, with no expense spared to a professional standard. Every nut and bolt came off the car and all the rot and rust was chopped out and replaced, not "rust-eatered". The whole car has been rebuilt, top to bottom and underneith and cost about 15K in total. Here is a list of all the work that has been done and the modifications to the engine:

Body: All rust cut out and new panels made and welded back in inc; windscreen aperture lower, rear quarter aperture lowers, outer front sills, front arch lips x2 and rear inner and outer arch lips, front jacking stumps.... photos of all work done. The car was fully seam sealed, stone chipped and painted top and bottom in the correct LY3D tornado red 2k top coat, so no clear coat. Rallye sebring alloys fully restored in correct silver, x4 new Toyo proxes t1r 195/ 50/ 15.

Engine- 1H block, 1738cc, Original block, pistons, rods, pump, crank and flywheel. Full rebuild: honed, new bearings, rings, seals, new water pump, thermostat, coil, distributor, belts...

Cylinder head- Rallye 1H, 8v standard valve port. Ported inlet/ outlet manifolds, ported/ de-wedged throttle body. Full rebuild: polished/ ported, new valve guides, port matched to inlet and outlet manifolds, New head gasket, anything worn or broken replaced. G40 NGK plugs.

Gearbox/ drive train: ASU, 5 speed, manual. New sachs (300 BHP) plate, new master and slave cylinder. Fully rebuild: All bearings and seals, 3rd gear chipped so replaced with longer gearing as standard unavailable, but much better. Rebuilt transfer box, new prop shaft doughnuts, hangers and bearing. Rear diff rebuilt. New CV joints and boots.

Supercharger/ Air/ Fuel: G60, 70mm pulley and correct size belt. Saab turbo 362cc red injectors, Dubforce tuning chip to match all mods. Full rebuild: Bearing, apex strips, seals, ported, finned oulet. Standard drilled G60 airbox with K&N panel, now fitted back on the car. Spa turbo O/ E style adjustable fuel pressure regulator with removable gauge. Carbon filter and pipe work removed but could be put back on.

Exhaust: Rallye cast manifold/ SS down pipe port matched, new Bosch lambda, supersprint stainless resonator mid pipe and decat pipe, straight through rear pipe 2", with removable restrictor.

Electrics: Fully tested before rebuild, everything works on the car.

Suspension/ Brakes: New fk coil-overs with Koni yellow adjustable struts, poly bushes, 23mm front anti roll bar. Goodrich brake pipes, new hard pipes, new handbrake cables, rebuilt calipers, EBC red stuff pads, black diamond grooved disks. New 4x genuine abs sensors. Abs fully working.

The car is in exceptional original condition. As a VW fan, I wanted to keep her as near to factory as possible, so every single part of the car has been stripped, restored or replaced with original sourced parts, no expense has been spared. The car is dry stored and never driven in the wet and is very fast and drives really well. Sensible performance modifications that you would want to find on a Golf Rallye, as the standard BHP was only 160 (and a bit slow). I have hundreds of pictures of the restoration that can be emailed on request. I have all the original paperwork and a huge pile of receipts including the VW service history. If you need any more information about the car please get in touch. Lots of original parts to come with the car, so can be put back to standard. Thanks Mike.
