Up for sale is my 1991 Audi S2 3B. I have owned the car for the past few years, I have always had a love for the VW/ Audi marque. Owning various Audis and VW's.
I bought the Audi from a enthusiast however not everyone has the same standard! The car was in need of some serious TLC as any car of this age will do.
Over the past 2 years the car has had a small fortune spent on it which I know I wont get back!
The Audi has been in to a specialist body shop who I use for my vintage cars. The body shop specialises in pre-war Rolls Royce's, Bentleys, Lea Francis ect so you wont get a better job! The sills on both sides have had pieces properly put in them and been repaired, its had 2 new genuine Audi front wings, any dents ect removed and a full re spray in its original colour.
Mechanically it didn't have good oil pressure when I bought it. So the engine was pulled, this is where when investigated the bottom end was full of a grinding paste. The engine was then fully stripped down, and the following was done;
Engine block was professionally cleaned
New Crank shaft obtained
Forged conrods
new crankshaft bearings (sputter)
new thurst bearings
Cylinder head port, polished and skimmed
New cams
New gasket set top and bottom
Turbo has been refurbished
The engine after been reassembled runs perfect and runs very strong. The car is currently 280 at the wheels and is very fit! I have kept the car looking as original as possible as believe that's how they should be. Anyone that knows about these engines know what they are capable of they can achieve 400-500Hp easily. The internals of the engine are good for this now just turbo, injectors and a remap should you want more power.
Both the front and rear sub frames have been removed, the rear was very badly corroded so I sourced a new one in Germany. Both sub frames were shot blasted and powder coated then new bushes were fitted.
Same with the suspension arms front and back bushes removed, shot blasted, powder coated, new bushes, bolts and bottom ball joints fitted.
The rear diff has been serviced and has new diff mounts, all brackets ect have all been powder coated.
New engine and gearbox mounts have been fitted
Custom stainless steel exhaust fitted 2. 5 inch to keep it quiet, sports back box and a OEM look rear twin rolled pipes.
Gearbox had a oil leak this was repaired by a specialist and was all checked over. Again this has new oil in and been painted.
New one of the last available genuine Audi Clutch fitted.
New oil cooler fitted.
New alternator.
New sunroof seal.
New MFTS plug.
Wheels have been powder coated and new Michelin Pilot tyres fitted.
The car has had a small fortune spent on it, I know what's been spent and I have photos of everything from body shop to engine rebuild to sub frames been stripped.
I have receipts from the body shop for work done, all the parts I have bought for the car also.
Massive file of previous receipts with the car from previous owners.
Car is HPI clear which is rare for one of these!
Only things I can say are I think its hard to find a car that's had all this done as they will all need doing at some point.
Downsides;
Original Audi cloth on the door cars is starting to slightly lift on the edges I was going to get these sorted by the upholsterer as I wanted to keep it original.
There is a bit of transmission backlash which is normal for one of these everything has been checked and done correctly I have also a spare gearbox been rebuilt as we speak at a specialist as a spare.
The coolant light has occasionally started flashing, its either coolant bottle or will investigate. I have replaced the expensive MFTS when I rebuilt the engine which was well over £100 off Audi so this has been done.
