The Appeal
The RS6 may have dialled the super estate up to 11, but it’s the blisteringly quick B7 RS4 that is closest to the template set by Audi’s Porsche-infused RS2. It’s also the most engaging way to extract power from the brilliant 4.2L TFSI V8 and Quattro drivetrain thanks to the manual-only spec.
As enthusiasts will quickly tell you, a B7 RS4 needs to be in the definitive launch colour of Sprint Blue matched with black ‘wingback’ Recaros. As if by magic, that is exactly the car we have here. It is a very well-presented enthusiast-owned car that has been properly maintained by specialists like MRC, Spartan Automotive, Unit 20 and the VAG Doctor. The work is carefully documented in a well-organised pair of blue folders. Highlights include over £5,000 of suspension work in late 2025 and a further service in July 2026 including plugs and coil packs.
The car is largely factory standard, including the DRC system, which we are told works correctly. There is one deviation from Audi spec - a Stage 2 tune by MRC that we are told delivers scintillating performance. With that recent service and an advisory-free MOT to October 2027, this uber dog wagon is ready to enjoy.
The vendor says:
“This car needs no introduction, and anyone who knows what these are knows exactly what they are; it's blisteringly quick, sounds like nothing else, the naturally aspirated V8 is one of, if not the best, engines ever produced by Audi, and this car was built when Audi were great. The B7 RS4 is iconic and always will be; value-wise, value wise they are only going one way: naturally aspirated V8 with a manual gearbox, and this one still runs the factory DRC system, which is fully functional, so it handles very, very well. These cars are coveted by anyone who is anyone in the car world; just ask Chris Harris. And a Sprint Blue Avant, with Wingbacks, Carbon Inlays and a good history of careful owners, is very hard to find. This car does have, I guess, what some people would say is a lot of owners, but for a 20-year-old car and a car of this type I don't think it's out of the ordinary.”
