Fabulous Mk1 MX-5, 1991 1. 6 litre petrol model, manual transmission, power steering and electric windows in Classic Red with Black Cloth Trim.
This is an original UK car and has had no modifications. I've owned the car for the last 21 years.
It's got a genuine 57, xxx on the clock and a comprehensive service and MOT history going back virtually to day 1! I've also got the original Owner's Manual and Service Book.
The car was first registered in August 1991 and when the original owner moved to the States for work in January 1995 she transferred it into her brother's name for him to look after and use till she came back.
In the summer of 1996 she decided to stay in the States (and bought another MX-5!) and asked her brother to sell her UK one for her which was when I bought it through my local Mazda dealership.
It's never needed any welding and has still got the original paintwork. The front and rear bumpers have faded a bit and there's a small scratch on the driver's door but otherwise the paintwork is in really good condition.
The wings and the wheel arches are sound. The driver's side sill has recently developed some rust about 3-4" square. It looks to be just in the paintwork and the sill itself is solid but it will need some work doing. The passenger sill is still fine.
It passed its MOT passed first time which is valid through to September 2018 with just one advisory about the driver's side sill.
I've had a Category 1 Alarm/ Immobiliser fitted to replace the original alarm, which used to drain the battery, and have had no issues with this new one.
It also has an original Mazda hard top in Classic Red which is included in the price. This has an electric heated glass rear window. The hard top comes with its own padded storage bag (which can be hung on the wall) for when the hard top is not on the car. It also has its original tonneau, tool kit and jack.
It's a lovely looking car as you can see from the photos. The condition of the soft top is good as is the interior. The carpets and seats are faultless.
As you'd expect with a car of this age that has not been re-sprayed there are a few paint chips that will need attention at some time if you want it to be absolutely A1.
Over the years apart from general servicing, new tyres, batteries, etc it's had new:
- Cam belt
- Window cables
- Headlight relay
- Power steering pipe and hose
- Suspension joints and track rod ends
I've recently reduced the asking price to £2, 750. This includes the hard top and it's storage bag. Location is SE London.
