Bedford TK 750 with Oakley Mahogany Horse Box as Original
Barn find condition, a real time warp. Starts well, runs and drives.
Woodwork excellent on all floor and side areas. Only attention needed above cab below the gutter (photo). I have spare wood to make replacement section. I have sanded part of the side to see how good the wood is hence the 2 colours apparent on the panelling. The condition is really excellent. Original colour can be seen near rear number plate (photo).
Dimensions internally are 5. 4m long including bed over cab, 4. 2m long from rear door when closed to bulkhead and 2. 3m wide. It is currently divided as original with a partition for horses/ humans! All original partitions are still installed and in excellent useable condition.
All completely original with rear ramp and partitions for 2 ponies, tying points etc.
There is a possible bed bunk above the driving area. This area and kitchen is empty currently, ready for a satisfying fit-out. There is a Fiamma water tank installed underneath.
The wood is 99% excellent - not a box of rot at all. I started to rub down to see how it will come up and it will be beautiful. I have removed the rain trim and ripped out rotten wood as stated above caused by a gutter fault on both sides.
Underneath is sound. The wooden floor underneath the mats is totally sound - well looked after or little used (one or the other). I have photod this and put the mats back. Clearly it is old so please do come and inspect, there is work to do, mainly cosmetic I think but this would be a beautiful restored Horsebox. An alternative is a lucrative glamping conversion but I don't have the heart to do that myself as it is so original. The ramp has the original hessian on it and the original handpainted Horses sign is all there.
About 69000km or 43, 000 miles. Last on road in 1995 (MOT certificate). It has not been on the road for 20 years but we did drive it here 10 miles 2 years ago on the road (on trade plates). It has been barn stored dry since. Brakes need attention but no significant rust or other obvious major MOT failure points. 2 previous owners (last owner since 1988).
Again, don't come expecting a mint vehicle, there is work to be done but nothing too scary for the DIY able. In fact with brakes and general MOT attention it could be used immediately for equine shows and events or rallies.
Can be driven if you have the old style driving licence as it is less than 7. 5 tonne. No MOT, currently SORN. Not been on road 20 years but doesn't appear too much mechanical work to do. Brakes obviously need bleeding etc. Not much structural work at all either. I suspect mostly cosmetic. This is a truly honest vehicle not messed with at all. Chassis appears good. Temp guage and vacuum stay stable when running.
