A very rare, very special car! One of just eight right-hand drive cars made in a limited run to satisfy FIA homologation rules, this is a scintillating car. The Ferrari 348 GT Competizione was built to meet FIA GT Championship regulations and is all about performance: with the same power-to-weight ratio as a Ferrari 355, its impeccable handling characteristics make it a driver's dream.
Our car is a 1995 Ferrari 348 GT Competizione. Fifty cars had to be built to meet the FIA's GT Championship homologation regulations – this car is number 41 of that 50 but is one of just eight right-hand drive cars. Finished in Rosso Corsa with the original orange seat covers, the car has covered just over 50, 000 miles and is immaculate throughout.
The Ferrari 348 GT Competizione was the first of the Ferrari Challenge cars, the one-make race series that was established in 1993. Run under FIA regulations Ferrari had to manufacture a minimum fifty production cars, these 'homologation specials' having to include everything they wanted to use on the race cars.
Although using the same F119H engine as the standard Ferrari 348, the 'Competizione' engine was slightly more powerful, but the car was also some 190 kilograms lighter thanks to a wealth of special parts and build differences. A special exhaust manifold and race-developed light-weight exhaust system; Kevlar doors, sills and bumpers; a polycarbonate rear window; Kevlar seats from the F40; special, lightweight three-piece 18" Speedline 'Competizione' wheels; a braking system derived from the F40 Evoluzione; a revised rear subframe; Ferrari 355 suspension pick-up points; a lower final drive ratio and no air-conditioning system. The list is endless, the result being a power-to-weight ratio the same as a Ferrari 355 and fabulous, nimble handling characteristics.
Built in 1994 and registered in the UK in February 1995, a plaque on the steering wheel identifies the car to be 'Number 41'. Owned by a local Ferrari enthusiast, the car was used at UK hill-climb events between 2005 and 2011, at one point competing with three of the other right-hand drive 'Competiziones'. It's been exceptionally well cared for, has been fully serviced, is in immaculate throughout and is registered H15 GTC. This is a very special car.
