This is a very exciting barn find.
One of only 170 home market Series 2a 1 Ton Land Rovers built!
It had been used on a country estate in Staffordshire for approx 8 years and then sat in a nice dry barn for a few years until I found it.
I realised it was a one ton by the extended spring shackles and this was backed up when I uncovered the chassis plate which is 22900150H.
Up to date new V5 document in my name.
It was thought to be lost and even the 1 Ton experts did not know where it was.
BNV 745K was bought new by East Midlands Electricity Board and used by them out in the field as is evidenced by the period photos that I tracked down courtesy of Dan Warden on the 1 Ton website.
Will need some welding to the rear chassis rails and the rear crossmember for an MOT.
Bulkhead remarkably original and sound.
Has been fitted with a BMC 3. 8 diesel engine which starts first turn of the key and sounds good.
Has overdrive fitted.
It would be great to put it back to its original livery when it was in use by the Electricity Board
This will make a very satisfying recommission or restoration project.
