CS1212 was registered on the 22nd December 1934 at the time of writing I have no real information on CS1212’s early history. Contemporary history starts 21st April 2008 Bonham’s auctions sales catalogue where they state that CS1212 had been stored for 40 years prior to the auction. The photos in that sales catalogue certainly show the need for some serious work. The hammer price plus buyer’s premium and VAT meant the winning bidder paid £5750 to acquire the restoration project.
Fortunately the new owner of CS1212 didn’t undertake a bodysnatching operation to provide us with yet another special! Instead once at home the purchaser started a work diary and the much needed preservation work, I understand he was a retried aircraft engineer!
The body was removed from the chassis to allow proper renovation of both body and chassis, which was stripped, sandblasted and painted then re-assembled. Engine wise notes confirm that the original block has been board out to +. 060”, 10th October 2010 entry amuses me, fit parcel shelf Joined VSCC!
The car was finally finished in May 2011 after some £11, 000 had been invested in CS1212 and she retains her original interior, with new carpet and headlining, the sliding roof had been permanently sealed closed.
Since completion the car has changed hands a couple of time, more recently residing around 30 miles away from our Foxfields showroom. In fact when I collected the CS1212 I decided to drive her the 30 miles, where she sat happily at 50-55 mph, gauges for both with water temp oil pressure remained constant. The carb has resent been changed from the original Solex to a SU this needs some final adjustment. Overall the car seams very solid, cosmetically the paintwork could be better but photographs well. So if your looking a good user to enjoy and not be worried about then here you go.
