Description
The Oxford MKV1 “Farina” was launched in 1961 and was the last in the line of Morris cars to bear the name Oxford. It was produced until 1971, the Austin, Riley and MG versions were dropped in 1969 but the Wolseley and Morris versions were kept on for two extra years. They were dependable and surprisingly good to drive but their robust nature lead to many being lost to the banger racing circuit. Today, these cars are something of a bargain and they can still be bought for the price of a Morris Minor and they cost not much more to keep on the road.
This car is a 1970 Morris Oxford MKV6 in Fawn Brown with a white roof. It has had just 3 owners from new and the mileage reading is 54, 000 which may well be correct but there is little history with the car so we cannot guarantee it.
The upper body is very good as is the paint finish with the odd imperfection but no bubbling or rot. The underside is in excellent condition – as good as we have seen on a Farina in recent years - with an absence of poorly welded plates as so many have. . The under bonnet is also in good order and pleasingly original. The interior has been re-trimmed at some time and is in good order and there is a working period radio.
On the road this smart and presentable Farina runs and drives very well, the engine is quiet with strong oil pressure and the gearbox is smooth and free from noises.
Ready to use with MOT until February 2018 (12 months MOT if required) and free classic tax. Much recent expenditure including new radiator, clutch master cylinder, four new tyres, brakes and steering fully re-built with new bushes and joints and brake overhaul with new pipes and hoses and stainless exhaust.
