After the production of the DB6 from 1965 through to 1969, Aston Martin released the DB6 MK2.

The new car featured larger wire wheels, flared guards, power assisted steering, and an optional 5 speed ZF manual transmission, AE Brico electronic fuel injection as well as Vantage specification.

Production ran for just 12 months and with low build numbers coupled with the ravages of time has meant that today the DB6 MK2 has become an exceedingly rare and coveted car.

Vantage specification was an expensive and exclusive option to acquire. Benefitting from an upgraded power plant - a 4. 2 Litre DOHC inline-six cylinder with triple Weber carburettors producing 325hp, whereas the standard car produced 287hp, the Vantage specification cut the 0-100 km/ h sprint from 8. 4 to 6. 4 seconds.

It’s all about the numbers. With only 71 Vantage specification MK2’s ever produced in both left and right hand drive, here we have an original right hand drive car, 1 of just 65.

Documented by Aston Martin, this car was originally delivered to the UK in highly desirable Silver Birch over Black Connolly leather trim and Black carpets.

One of the most original DB6’s we’ve seen, it also has had an incredible story, detailed within its accompanying and original service booklet.

First purchased from Newport Pagnell in 1970, the owner toured the UK for the first 500 miles. It was then shipped to Ireland where the same owner toured for another month.

On the 10th of January 1971, only 7 months later, we place it in Pukekohe, New Zealand reading 2, 800 miles on the odometer. He then toured the country until arriving in Auckland in May of 1971 where the car had completed 5, 116 miles.

Lastly, we place the car at its final destination, Brisbane, Australia in October of 1971 where it remained for the next 46 years.

This DB6 MK2 Vantage is incredibly original and numbers matching. The interior shows all the subtle nuances of originality so hard to find. From the correct Smiths gauges and time piece, door trims, timber rimmed steering wheel to the gear shifter all tell-tale signs point to a well maintained car.

The drive is fantastic, with the engine and running gear being recommissioned in 2005 after sitting for some time this gentleman’s grand tourer roars to life at the turn of the key, the gear shift slides into first with ease and you’re engulfed with the exhilarating power and sound of the Vantage motor.

Accompanying the car is its original Aston Martin service booklet showing its first service in April 1970. It also has its original leather DB6 MK2 embossed instruction book and folder with receipts documenting its recommission.

What we have here is a rare opportunity to own, drive and invest in a forever desirable poster car. Given its noteworthy provenance, specification and condition this sports classic car will remain a blue-chip investment and significant example of one the greatest cars Aston Martin’s ever produced.
