FOR SALE: A delightful 1. 9 GTi, plenty of paperwork and an excellent driver.
EQUIPMENT
Original Clarion radio cassette, Sunroof, Digital clock, Front fog lights, Lockable glove compartment, Cigarette lighter, Ash tray, Spare wheel, Carpet mats, Spare key.
EXTERIOR
Every bit the iconic hot hatch, this sprightly 1. 9 looks splendid with its gloss black coachwork and contrasting red GTi trim. Free from any major scuffs or scrapes the paint finish is very presentable overall; the bumpers and rubbing strips are in equally fine fettle. With prices of low mileage 205s having soared in recent years this example offers an excellent opportunity to purchase a very useable GTi, ready to be driven and enjoyed for many years to come. The underside has recently had a coat of clear waxoyl to protect it from the British roads.
INTERIOR
The seats are in very tidy condition without any significant wear to the leather seat bolsters or cloth centres. The dash and centre console are free from any cracks or damage and all the switchgear works just as it should. The original tape player is still present, and the door cards and parcel shelf have been saved from the fitting of aftermarket speakers.
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The 1. 9-litre engine fires into life and idles smoothly with none of the common rough-running issues following start up. Reading through the service history file it is clear to see that the 205 has been well maintained; the last service was carried out in August 2017, which included a cambelt and water pump change.
WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
Sitting on its original set of 15-inch Speedline wheels the GTi has an assertive yet playful stance. The alloys are in very good condition and are free from any major curb marking. Both front and rear brakes have been refreshed over the last few years with new calipers, discs and pads. A common issue with these GTis is the rear beam, which was replaced in 2016.
HISTORY FILE
The file is full of invoices showing lots of recent expenditure including a cambelt service last year, refreshed brakes, and a rear axle. The current owner has also had the car serviced annually in his seven years of ownership; he has clearly not scrimped on keeping it in fine driving order. Along with all the service invoices the car has most of its MOT certificates dating back to the mid ‘90s, and both sets of keys are also still present.
