1935 Alvis Speed 20 SC Tourer
Looking smart and purposeful in British Racing Green, with red leather upholstery and matching wheels this Speed 20 SC Tourer was originally registered in Cheshire and was later exported to East Africa a few years later where it saw action in competition.
Apparently, the car was raced with great success and a copy of a newspaper article is supplied with reference to this, although was to later suffer with overheating which caused it to be retired from competition use. Sometime later the car was purchased by a farmer in Kenya who dismantled the vehicle with a view to restoration but this was never completed and subsequently it was to languish for many years before eventually returning to the UK and being re-bodied in Cross & Ellis Tourer style.
In recent years the car has been sparingly used but carefully maintained.
The 2. 8 litre engine runs very sweetly and the car drives extremely well. The weather equipment is all in good order including a hood bag and full tonneau cover.
