Alfa Romeo 3. 0 GTV6. This is no normal gtv6, it is one of the special and very rare South Africa only homologation cars.
3. 0 gtv6, s are an iconic car in South African motorsport history and are highly sought after in SA, only 202 or 212 (depends who you talk to) were ever produced.
3. 0 gtv, s are now fetching well over £30, 000 in South Africa. The last one i saw advertised (in South Africa) sold within two days at £34, 000.
A few cars were fitted with fuel injection, but most were fitted with six Dellorto carburettors as per mine.
A standard gtv6 does not compare.
Car needs a full restoration.
The car has been partially stripped and is not as per pictures, bumpers, doors and bonnet have been removed.
I was going to restore the car myself, but with two other projects on the go it is a bit too much, but i may still restore it.
The following is a quick guide to the work involved,
sills and floors look very good (floors may need some minor work), bottom of drivers door is shot but looks ok externally, n/ s bottom of wing will need a repair, needs a new lower front panel, complete respray, interior is complete with the nicer type black series 3 seats but they need some attention and the whole interior will need re-doing, needs a new battery tray, you get the idea.
All arches are excellent.
I have rebuilt the 6 Dellorto carburettors and the car fires up and the engine sounds great, no smoke, rattles or anything else it should not do, the carbs still need fine tuning and setting up.
The previous owner stated that he had the heads rebuilt, looking at the the valves when the carbs were off this is true, the valves look new and the head has been ported.
Comes with an almost complete black bodykit, bumpers, front grille, all lights, another hatchback, an original uk type black front lower spoiler, etc.
Registration process is very simple and i can advise.
Has the correct 3 litre engine, Compomotive wheels, 6 Dellorto carbs and correct bonnet.
Also this is the earlier split dash model.
No sunroof. I try to avoid buying cars with aftermarket sunroofs, they are inappropriate for track cars, leak, are near on impossible to get parts for and look crap.
Recorded mileage is just over 54, 000 kilometers (33, 500 miles), i have no idea if this is true, but the car has not been used for many years.
I will supply the original South African logbook a customs letter which proves all duties have been paid and the car is NOVA registered.
