This BMW Z4 2. 2 is offered outside the terms of our usual stock – please read the advert carefully.
Owned by my father for 8 years, last October he decided to change to something more practical and I agreed as a favour to sell it for him. As we are busy with our own cars, it generally got left to one side until the New Year, when an employee of the unit next to ours said they wanted it as a run around. I agreed to sell it to him on a strictly as seen basis.
However, the car did cause him to spend more money than either he or I anticipated and as I don’t want to have any bad feeling with our neighbours I agreed to take the car back off him and return his money so here it is for general sale – I’m happy to say we are still friends!
Good points:
• It has a comprehensive service history, my father always got things done when they were needed as well as routine servicing.
• It starts, runs, stops and steers well
• The electric roof works as do all the other electrics
• There are no warning lights on the dash
• Recent work includes a new front roof motor, new clutch, new coil pack, new expansion tank, new rocker cover gasket
• It isn’t due a service for another 8000 miles
• My father was the 3rd owner, obviously there is now a short term 4th owner on the V5
• MOT until January 2019, no advisories.
• All original paint (see below), never been in an accident (still has original BMW Park Lane plates) and is HPI clear
• Hood does not leak
Areas for improvement:
• General bodywork scratches and scrapes on both bumpers
• Various ‘supermarket’ dings
• Substandard paint repair to front arch lip – was a bleb of rust, just wanted to protect it
• Wheels heavily kerbed
• Front tyres have couple of chunks out the sidewalls (see above!)
• Every now and again there is a whine from the rear – seems to be when it’s been stood for a couple of weeks. When it does occur, seems to disappear after 10 mins
• Boot hinge springs need replacing, needs a tug to open
• Drivers door sometimes difficult to open, cable is stretched
There may be other faults, but these are the ones I know about. Basically this car should be seen as one that needs work but can probably be used whilst that work is carried out as you wish.
We take our consumer rights very seriously and as such, when this car is sold it will have ‘sold as spares or repair’ on the invoice. This means you will have absolutely no recompense should it not be to satisfaction. If you have any doubt about what this means, then you are probably best looking elsewhere – we have other retail worthy cars which we are happy to stand by, but they aren’t £2000.
