Perhaps the most iconic bodystyle of Porsche’s 356, the Speedster began life at the behest of US importor Max Hoffman. According to him, a lower-cost, reasonably spartan open-top roadster was exactly what the brand needed to increase sales. He was quickly proven correct, with the new “Speedster” version and its distinctive cut-down raked windscreen proving quite popular wherever roads were twisty and the weather was nice.
