Running well
The Appeal
Dead fish go with the flow, as they say, so why not forget the Triumphs, BSAs and Nortons that every man and his dog are riding and instead dance to your own tune with a lesser spotted but equally as riveting AJS, like this 600cc twin-cylinder model 30? The AJS model 30, as well as being more exclusive and therefore arguably cooler than those models we just mentioned, also stands out thanks to its unique engineering, featuring, as it does, a third central crankshaft main bearing which helps to minimise vibrations whilst also increasing the engine's lifespan.
Handsome, tough and well-designed the AJS Model 30, introduced in 1956, is also pretty easy to spanner on and there is fantastic after market, parts and club support, not to mention the inherent racing pedigree giving any already proud owner additional kudos points. Comfortable to use day-to-day but with assured handling and enough power to keep things exciting when the mood takes you, the AJS Model 30 makes a whole lot of sense. And it sounds rather good too.
This apparently rust-free example in generally good condition with no marks to the seat and the paintwork and chrome present well with a charming patina that only adds to the bike's character. The bike is fitted with a rear luggage rack by 'Classic Racks' and the tank pads are intact. The engine is running well with no known faults and the vendor tells us the bike is "well balanced and lovely to ride".image.png2.91 MB
