The Appeal
Paul Bracq’s makeover of the transatlantic ‘Fintail’ saloon was masterful. The result: one of classic motorings most enduring and desirable coupe and convertible ranges. Handsome, practical and built to last, these stylish cars make excellent tourers.
While values for the open top cars head into the stratosphere, good coupes still represent great value. Particularly when they are as rare and well presented as this car. Just 270 of the 2,419 300SE W112 cars were built worldwide in RHD like this car. It is even rarer still because it is one of a handful fitted with a factory manual gearbox.
Those are just two reasons to want this car. These were sophisticated and advanced cars, qualities that make them eminently usable today. This one has the 3L M189 fuel injected engine and is fitted with factory power steering, all round disc brakes and air suspension. It is classically finished in popular blue metallic with black leather. The condition is impressive, displaying a very light patina that arguably adds the sort of character this stately car wears well. There is a large history file, which indicates enthusiast keepers and includes photos of the car at various Owners Club shows and events.
The car is now UK registered on plate KYY46C and ready to add style to city and suburban streets or head off on a continental tour.
