The Appeal
The R107-generation 350 SL is the quintessential Mercedes drop-top of the era — broad of bonnet, heavy of door, and humming with V8 charm. Finished in a classic cream over brown combo, this UK-registered example offers not only impressive condition, but a fascinating backstory and remarkable originality.
Its bodywork was treated to a professional restoration two decades ago, yet the car remains sharp today, a testament to careful use and storage. The period-correct Brazil check cloth interior remains untouched and remarkably well-preserved, adding real authenticity to the cabin.
Accompanied by two sets of keys, a garage folder of supporting history, and a whole host of stamps and invoices dating back through decades of ownership, this 350 SL is both a time capsule and a driver’s delight. If you want a sorted R107 without the looming cloud of hidden rot or interior bodge jobs, this one deserves your full attention.

The Condition
The exterior presents extremely well, with a consistent cream finish, smart brightwork and tidy soft-top. This was a back-to-metal restoration and it shows — panel fit appears clean and the paint retains excellent gloss. There is slight bubbling on the rear nearside wheel arch, and around the petrol cap. The left indicator has a double push operation to keep it indicating, right indicator perfect.
Chrome trim, wheel caps and lenses are all complete and in nice order. The convertible hood shows light age but is usable and intact.
Inside, the brown check cloth and MB-Tex trim is a real highlight — almost entirely original and in good usable condition. The dashboard, carpets and headlining all present cleanly, with some gentle wear in line with the car’s age and mileage.
The engine bay is remarkably tidy for a car of this vintage, with evidence of servicing, fresh hoses and well-kept ancillaries. The boot appears clean and the car comes with original spanners and jack, albeit showing light surface rust.
The underside shows expected corrosion but no major structural concerns. Suspension components and the exhaust system appear original but serviceable.

- Drives as a “low-mileage SL should,” according to owner
