The Appeal
The Spitfire is the kind of car in which Britain cornered the market. Small, nimble, stylish and above all fun, it is all those qualities that kept it in production for so long and why it remains a perennial of the classic scene.
These cars are perfect for touring, so it is no surprise to discover that this late model Mk IV 1500 has participated in multiple Club events since the vendor acquired it seven years ago. These include two Coast 2 Coast runs and two 10 Counties Runs. It has proved entirely reliable.
The vendor reports that the car is in excellent mechanical health with good cylinder compression and a raft of improvements, including upgraded brakes and cooling. The car is fitted with a Stage 2 head, Kent fast road cam and Stanspeed stainless steel exhaust to improve drivability and Spitfire-based thrills. We are told the car has been serviced annually irrespective of mileage since the vendor acquired the car.
The car is MOT and tax exempt by age but comes to market with a usefully recent MOT from March 2024. That will give buyers added reassurance about the structural and mechanical health of this classic gem.
The vendor says:
“It is a fun-to-drive little sports car. I’ve loved having it all the time I have owned it. I have completed two Coast 2 Coasts and two 10 Countries Runs with Club Triumph over the years. Besides all the other times I have used it over the years. No mechanical problems at all. Just a joy to own. I love the ease of working on it, should that be your thing. Everything is so accessible!”
