The Appeal
As anyone who has ever tried, or even just contemplated, getting in and out of a SWB E-Type Series 1 or 2 knows, bigger doors and a higher roofline would make the task considerably easier. That explains why cars like this, the Series 2 2+2, are so popular with E-Type enthusiasts who plan to actually use and enjoy their cars.
The Series 2 +2 retained the desirable style of the original cars, but with improvements to usability and comfort. Just 1,041 RHD 2+2 Series 2 FHCs were built, so finding one is a challenge 55 years on from the last ones leaving the line. This 1969 car is quite the find, a three-keeper car that has been in the hands of the previous owner since 1983. It features one of the models’ most appealing shades, Primrose Yellow, and is reported to have covered just 30,000 miles from new. The car’s extensive MOT records, part of a large history file, indicate that this figure could be correct.
The car is in fine condition. The paintwork was refreshed as part of a bare metal repaint some years ago, since when it has been little used. There are some points to note in the photos, but with its practical long-wheelbase layout, optional power steering, and relaxing auto box, this matching-numbers Series 2 is ready to enjoy.
The vendor says:
"You should definitely come and have a look at AGO if you are an enthusiast of these cars. Find another. Yes, it requires minor work as not a concours or show car at this stage, but what a car - a keeper for someone, worth a lot of money and very likely to hold its value." Bear in mind 2 previous owners & previous owner’s ownership almost 4 decades.”
