The Appeal
We’re with you: how? Considering the Alfasud’s close relationship with metal disintegration, how has this highly original Series 3 SC survived? And yet it has, and remarkably so.
As enthusiasts know, the final Suds were actually pretty well built, with high levels of corrosion resistance to cure the notorious problems. What has killed most of these later cars is being driven into the ground by enthusiastic drivers, understandably so, because Alfa’s tiny southern terror is one of the best-handling family cars of all time.
Here is a chance to find out. This car is one of the later five-door models, fitted with the 1.3L 79bhp version of the flat four ‘Boxer’ motor and a 5spd gearbox. It is entirely factory standard, from the Alfa Rosso paintwork to the grey fabric cabin. Throughout it is in time warp condition - even the notoriously fragile rear parcel shelf is in good order.
The car has been enthusiast-owned for many years, amassing just five keepers in its 42 years. The mileage is still under 62,000 miles, which we’re told is verified by the history file. With voluntary MOT to September 2026, this looks like a great, practical classic that would fit in equally at any Alfa show as at the Festival of the Unexceptional.
The vendor says:
“Not concourse but close to it and very original. Rare to find a Sud with no rot!!!”
