The Rover 2000, or P6 was launched in 1963 and promptly won car of the year as well as many awards for safety and design, thanks to innovative features such as all-round disc brakes and body panels which bolted to a frame like the Citroen DS.
This car is something of a find. It is a 1970 Rover 2000 series one automatic in Brigade red with a black leather trim. It has covered a correct 70k miles from new and has had just two owners from new and the last owner of nearly 40 years only sold the car due to emigration. It has covered small mileage over the last few years but used and maintained regularly. The upper body and paint are superb, the underside is straight, solid and very original and the interior is in good original condition with some age appropriate wear to the carpets and leather. On the road this excellent P6 drives beautifully with light steering and strong performance – unlike poorly maintained examples.
It comes with original handbooks, stamped “Passport to Service”, new and old V5’s and various bills and is ready to use – it has had the best part of the asking price spent on it in the last few years including a good quality repaint (pictures showing a very straight but dull car prior to this are with it) new rear callipers, alternator and brake servo. We are constantly surprised by the value these stylish, practical cars offer and even as series one cars become quite rare you can still buy this one for less than the price of a Morris Minor in similar condition. The original registration plate is of value, stays with the car and is very fitting for a series “one” P6.
